London Toastmaster Looking Good In Red and Black

Master of Ceremonies Richard Birtchnell with Burlesque Dancers at Claridges

Master of Ceremonies Richard Birtchnell with Burlesque Dancers at Claridges

I recently acted as Master of Ceremonies at a birthday party held at Claridge’s where the theme was ‘Burlesque’, this being an exotic interpretation of musical theatre incorporating exaggeration, parody, tease and titillation. The evening’s cabaret featured the ‘Sophistication Dancers’, two of whom can be seen here with me ready to greet the guests. The colours of our respective uniforms co-ordinate well, don’t you think?

Need A Master of Ceremonies For a Birthday Party?

If you are looking to add that extra “little something” to enhance a birthday party, why not hire a Master of Ceremonies, such as Richard Birtchnell. Call him on 0207 730 3725 today to check his availability.

Awards Are Good For Your Health

The prestigious Prix Gallien awards, staged by WG Consulting ,held at the House of Commons are for innovations in the pharmaceutical industry for which I have officiated as Toastmaster over the last eight years. During that time, the Rt Hon Andrew Lansley has been acting as either Health Secretary or its Shadow and involved in the presentations and ceremonies during the event. ?Now, even in his new role as Leader of the House and technically no longer engaged in the business of Health, he was warmly applauded as he was invited by the organisers to make a speech.

The London Toastmaster At Henley

Q: Henley ? is it in Berks or Bucks?

A: Both

Henley Regatta which has been held every year in July since 1839 is the most prestigious rowing event in the world. For the last five years I have had the pleasure of acting as Toastmaster for fst, the brand communication agency based in Henley at their corporate hospitality marquee positioned right next to Stewards Enclosure. Its location, being on the south bank of the Thames, determines that this part of Henley is in Berkshire. However, the opposite North bank is in Buckinghamshire which is where I found myself the other day at a wedding held at the Phyllis Court Club, an elegant private members Club since 1906. When the rowing is underway, the opposing crews are allocated either a ?Bucks? or ?Berks? bank. I would commentate on the racing never having seen it from the other side. So I now know both Henleys. Being part of such traditions and history is a continuing privilege I am so lucky to enjoy.

If you are looking for a wedding toastmaster to help your wedding run smoothly, while allowing you to enjoy your Big Day, call Richard today on 020 7730 3725 to check his availability.

London Toastmaster Richard?s Parliamentary Privilege

August 28, 2012 By WebMaster

The Houses of Parliament and The London Toastmaster

I could never get bored nor blas? about working in the Palace of Westminster, the iconic Houses of Parliament that feature on every tourist?s itinerary, the home of our democracy at the heart of our capital. For over ten years, I have acted there at many receptions, ceremonies and banquets and I am constantly aware of the special privilege it confers upon me as I carry out my duties. These latest pictures are from a recent event to celebrate East End Foods Ltd 40th anniversary and I am grateful to their principals and the photographer Adam Hollingworth.

The Toastmaster Prepares For An Event

Part of the Toastmaster’s preparation for an event is testing the sound system and ensuring microphones are at the right height for the platform speakers. Such tasks are undertaken while the room is empty prior to the function. Here Richard wrestles with stands and a microphone and of course gets it just right.

As the international icon of democracy and peaceful resistance to oppressive rule, Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the Prize by Her Majesty the Queen in December 2011 and HE Madeleine Albright, US Secretary of State (1997-2001) accepted the Prize on her behalf. I was privileged to be the Toastmaster at this event. We hope that the Burmese heroine will be able to collect the award personally on her visit to London this June.

Chatham House, otherwise known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs, awarded its prestigious Chatham House Prize for 2010 to His Excellency President Abdullah G?l of Turkey. London Toastmaster at Lords

Richard Birtchnell Called to Lords

One day, I was performing at the House of Lords and the next at the iconic cricket ground of Lord?s. I need no reminding that it is an enormous privilege in my occupation to be regularly entering the private spaces of such institutions and for the briefest of moments, becoming part of their history.

Here for example I am in the Long Room at Lord?s, where for 120 years, every international cricketer has passed through, either to make an entrance onto the hallowed turf as a player or to enjoy its hospitality. The walls proudly display portraits of famous players, from WG Grace to Shane Warne. Lord?s was established in 1787 and is named after the MCC?s founder, Thomas Lord.

About the Author: Richard Birtchnell is not only a Master of Ceremonies,?but he is also a City of London Toastmaster. If you want to make your?event one to run smoothly and on time, then why not contact Richard to check his availability.
