Role of the London Toastmaster

The Toastmaster is an integral part of the ‘home’ team. He consults with the hosts on every aspect of the event and agrees all necessary timings, procedures and set-piece moments. The Toastmaster advises on etiquette, ceremonial precedence and correct forms of address.

On the hosts' behalf, the Toastmaster’s main duty is to ensure the smooth and timely running of the event. This includes the following activities:

Announcing guests and presenting them to the hosts
Making all guests feel welcome
Gaining silence and attention for grace, speeches and toasts
Introducing artistes and entertainers
Acting as an auctioneer, fundraiser or prize-caller and
Liaising with banqueting staff and photographers.
